Motorized water taxis navigating across rivers and
through canals. Suntanned people strolling down the streets and alleys of
a charming city. It is no wonder why Ft. Lauderdale is known by so many
as the Venice of America.
With a past reputation of being the Spring Break capital of the US, the
city of Ft. Lauderdale has come a long way to its present day status as
a family vacation paradise. The thousands of teenagers that used to flood
the city around Spring Break time have sought out new party venues in other
areas of the state, leaving peace and quiet and a beautiful setting behind
for everybody else to enjoy:
Las Olas Boulevard, which boasts an array of interesting shops, art galleries,
and restaurants, is a charismatic must-see for first-time visitors. As is
the enchanting Riverwalk Pier, a walk along which gets you to the famous
entertainment center, Las Olas Riverfront. Here, you can grab a coffee at
one of the many cafes, enjoy fresh seafood in one of the center’s
many restaurants, jump on an amusement ride, or browse the many shops that
are located here.
Ft. Lauderdale is also home to Port Everglades - the second-largest cruise
port in the world; a perfect platform from which millions of people embark
on exciting and relaxing cruise adventures every single year.
But the city has yet another asset of great importance: it sits by a beach
that is one of the very best on the east coast of Florida. And the serious
face lift that the city has received over the past decade, resulting in
an attractive overall appearance, only adds to Ft. Lauderdale’s ability
to attract visitors and ensure that they return time and time again. |
