A city of diversity,
a destination of color and heat – beautiful women, extraordinary
architecture; a playground for the rich-and-famous: those are some of
the words often used to describe Miami Beach, but the city offers so much
more, making it impossible to capture its entire soul in just a few sentences.
Begin at the coastline, and work your way inland: the first thing that
strikes you is the turquoise color of the ocean and the warmth of the
breeze that is gently carried onto the soft, white sand upon which thousands
of people play, relax and enjoy the sun every day of the year.
Continue just a few steps westward and find yourself on a street that
is famed worldwide for its beautiful Art Deco buildings, its exciting
and never-ending nightlife, its jetsetters, its cafes and restaurants,
its designer boutiques, and the beautiful property of the late Versace:
Ocean Drive. A must-see when you visit South Florida for the first time,
a delight to revisit when you return.
The last stretch of land between the beach itself and the bridges that
connect Miami Beach to the downtown Miami area, is divided by cozy streets
and alleys; hotels line the busy passageways between famous restaurants,
coffee shops, and galleries – residential areas provide opportunity
for walks through pockets of tranquility amidst an otherwise pulsating
city.
And last, but not least: make sure that you make time for an exploration
of Lincoln Road which cuts across Miami Beach - another must-see when
visiting South Beach. This pedestrian street boasts hundreds of shops,
cafes, restaurants, galleries, beauty salons – all in a relaxing
setting of palm trees, flowers, and fountains, providing the perfect backdrop
for a romantic evening out or an afternoon of shopping or people-watching.
